ABOUT
ART NEEDS MORE THAN VISIBILITY.
IT NEEDS A WAY TO MOVE.
ELSEHERE is an international arts organization building the structures that allow experimental and cross-border practices to be understood, documented, presented, and sustained.
Through production, publishing, curation, and artist development, we help work that exceeds established categories enter public record, institutional partnership, and international circulation.
THE PROBLEM
SUBSTANCE IS NOT THE PROBLEM.
INFRASTRUCTURE IS.
Experimental practices are being developed across disciplines, languages, and geographies. Yet work of real substance can still remain difficult to translate, document, place, and sustain.
We focus on four structural gaps:
01
LANGUAGE
The work exists, but its stakes and methods are not yet legible across different contexts.
02
PUBLIC RECORD
Projects disappear when documentation, critical writing, and durable records are incomplete.
03
RELATIONSHIPS
Artists and institutions may belong in the same conversation without having the context or trust required to begin it.
04
PRODUCTION
Ambitious work needs more than exposure. It needs time, structure, resources, and a path beyond a single presentation.
OUR APPROACH
FROM PRACTICE / TO PUBLIC RECORD /
TO CIRCULATION.
01
DEVELOP
Clarify the practice, its language, and its next artistic or professional threshold.
02
DOCUMENT
Build records through publishing, interviews, critical writing, and project documentation.
03
ENCOUNTER
Bring work into public life through festivals, screenings, exhibitions, performances, and programs.
04
CIRCULATE
Connect practices with institutions, presenters, collaborators, and new cultural contexts.
05
SUSTAIN
Turn isolated opportunities into longer relationships, future commissions, and continuing artistic lives.
WHO WE WORK WITH
WORK THAT CROSSES CATEGORIES.
PEOPLE WILLING TO CROSS WITH IT.

ARTISTS
We work with experimental, interdisciplinary, research-driven, and site-responsive artists at meaningful points of transition. Their work may cross media, languages, institutions, or geographies. It may already possess artistic depth while lacking the public record, institutional framing, production structure, or relationships required for its next stage.
We do not manufacture identities for artists. We build the conditions in which an existing practice can be read accurately, encountered seriously, and developed over time.

INSTITUTIONS
We work with museums, universities, festivals, cultural foundations, venues, and independent organizations seeking practices beyond familiar networks and classifications.
Our role is not to provide an unfiltered directory. We bring research, context, curatorial judgment, and relationship-building to the process—so that unfamiliar work can enter an institution with clarity, trust, and responsibility.
WHAT WE DO
ONE ORGANIZATION. THREE PUBLIC FORMS.
Different points of entry. One shared purpose.

ELSEHERE PLATFORM
The platform for development and circulation.
ELSEHERE supports artistic practices through research, production, professional development, representation, and cross-border partnership.
It is where practices are prepared for their next context—and where conversations become collaborations.

STRATUMJOURNAL
The independent editorial and public-record body.
STRATUM publishes peer-reviewed research, artist interviews, essays, and critical writing across art and culture.
It creates durable, citable records for practices and ideas that deserve sustained attention beyond an exhibition cycle or social feed.

PROGRAMS & FESTIVAL
The space of public encounter.
Festivals, residencies, screenings, performances, exhibitions, and public programs bring artists, audiences, and institutions into direct relationship.
Programs are not the end of the work. They are where new relationships and future possibilities begin.
OUR COMMITMENT
A MORE CONNECTED
ART WORLD IS POSSIBLE.
MISSION
ELSEHERE builds the infrastructure that allows experimental and cross-border artistic practices to be understood, documented, presented, and sustained.
Through production, publishing, curation, and artist development, we help work that exceeds existing categories move into public record, institutional partnership, and international circulation.
VISION
A more plural, accessible, and enduring ecosystem for contemporary art.
We envision a cultural field in which artists are not excluded because their work is difficult to categorize, translate, or access—and institutions can enter unfamiliar practices with context, trust, and responsibility.
OUR REACH
BUILT ACROSS LANGUAGES.
NOT CONFINED BY BORDERS.
ELSEHERE was founded in New York through sustained work across artistic and cultural contexts.
Our Chinese and English language capabilities, cross-border relationships, and experience navigating different institutional systems are part of our foundation. They are a depth of knowledge—not a boundary around whom we serve.
Today, we work with artists, writers, researchers, and institutions across regions. We approach international exchange not as symbolic visibility, but as the slower work of translation, contextualization, trust, and continued presence.

MANIFESTO
Once conceived as a vessel for what could not be fully uploaded or classified, ELSEHERE remains committed to what still breathes between worlds.
We believe that art is not what is defined, but what keeps redefining the world.
ELSEHERE gathers fragments, gestures, voices and images that persist beyond the systems built to contain them, and before any single reading can close them down.
A space for what escapes the model,
for what refuses codification,
for what outlives medium,
for the unclassified.
In an age that worships networks, ELSEHERE turns toward the intervals between them, toward tactility, embodiment and the untranslatable, between what is seen and what is sensed.
It cultivates encounters that resist reduction and privileges presence over data, attention over scrolling, relation over reach.
Each work exists as both artifact and apparition, suspended between archive and performance, between the ancient and the synthetic, part relic, part transmission.
ELSEHERE treats these remanent practices and vertical histories as serious ground, where every individual practice is itself a line of history rather than a footnote.
Rather than permanence, attention.
Rather than accumulation, relation.
Rather than display, devotion.
ELSEHERE is not a sealed vault but a passage, an active vertical archive.
For what exceeds classification.
For what refuses to be fully seen.
For what still breathes between worlds.
ELSEHERE is a living archive, a sanctuary for what moves between worlds, and a growing ecology for art and culture that continue to breathe beyond definition.
