For nearly 40 years, Equitable Foundation has contributed to the success and vitality of our communities through grants, partnerships and volunteerism.

Social impact & community engagement

As stewards of our business, we create enterprise value through positive impact across all our stakeholders, including people, clients and communities. We want to support that goal and be a force for good by connecting and inspiring our people through our key programs and leveraging the strength and stability of Equitable Foundation. We aspire to drive positive and sustainable change in society and to advance community vitality and social mobility.

To further connect Equitable’s big systems to our social impact strategy, Equitable Foundation established three focus areas to guide our team’s efforts that align to enterprise objectives:

Supporting students through our programs and partnerships, we focus on removing barriers and providing pathways to post-secondary attainment through college tours, college-preparation workshops, admissions assistance and FAFSA® workshops.

Through teacher retention, teacher pipeline, professional development, and teacher wellness initiatives, our collaborations are designed to help increase access, knowledge and enthusiasm for the profession.

Equitable Foundation is proud to offer a suite of educational tools and resources to help students navigate the financial challenges of pursuing higher education. As a champion of Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) completion efforts, we’re sharing a 3-part series around "How to pay for college" as well as a how-to guide developed by Equitable Foundation in collaboration with Kim Nauer, publisher of the nonprofit website UnderstandingFAFSA.org.

Matching gifts

Through our Matching Gifts program, we double the impact of the charitable contributions made by our employees and financial professionals. The programs are designed to help you magnify the impact of your own giving while leveraging your community activities and can be used to support branch-related community projects.

Disaster relief

Equitable is proud to be an annual contributing member of the American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program. Our annual support is an investment in disaster relief preparedness, ensuring the Red Cross can pre-position supplies, secure shelters, and train volunteers nationwide, so they are always ready to respond when disaster strikes. To further extend disaster relief support, employee and financial professionals’ personal donations to disaster relief organizations can also be matched at a 1:1 allocation.

Volunteer programs

At Equitable we are seen as a Force for Good within the communities where we live and work. This is not just about giving our time to a great cause. It’s about building up our surrounding communities and recognizing we're stronger together – as a team, as a company and as a community. Equitable Foundation awards grants to support our nonprofit partner organizations where volunteer events take place. In addition, in employee sites across the organization, we give our people time off to volunteer in their communities and support these organizations.

Employee relief fund

Equitable Foundation Relief Fund (EFRF) is a program designed to help employees or financial professionals cope with unexpected and unavoidable hardships that place undue financial or mental stress on themselves or their families. The EFRF has been created to help address unmet worker needs as well as to strengthen our business and help employees feel they have an extra resource to bolster their financial stability.
