maisie and gorka - best showdance, and best dance if the night. can't believe that bill's growling and stomping is coming in second. his best dance by far was his couples choice
-
stuff happened some old bloke won

rather than taking that grandiose tone with me nina, how about accept that you can't speak for the whole of the voting public, especially those who might not even be aware of their unconscious bias. fluffy entertainment doesn't happen outside of its socio cultural context.

race is relevant to everything in 2020. did you missed the news?

there's not really much original about a white middle aged man coming out on top though is there. even accounting for the dancing element, which no-one genuinely believes he was the best at. but i agree with your basic premise, which is that we needed something ordinary. and we got it.
-
completely agree. knocking out a 12 bar 3 chord blues, and making variations on the eastenders theme tune doesn't even make for a remarkable beginner, let alone a virtuoso.
-
1. dance of the night - maisie and gorka's showdance. just beautiful 2. hrvy reprising his american smooth and bursting into tears - genuinely breathtaking and moving 3. bill definitely improved on his previous form, much lighter on his feet 4. but on the whole, a disappointing win for the white, middle aged , middle class…

s'pose. o:)

well to complete the conjectures and refutations, you can't say what motivated viewers to vote for bill. it might be nothing to do with his dancing. and bill never acknowledged the other dancers, not just tonight.
-
we need ORDINARY and we got it.
-
one last moan about bill though, as it is the unappreciation thread i don't recall him ever acknowledging the dancing talents of any of the other celebs. lots of praise for oti of course, as is surely her due. but never a nod to those young people who were so much better than he was, not a word of support or encouragement,…

i thought he raised his game and danced the best he has all series. so actually it was close to call as to whether he or jamie was the worst dancer in the final. maisie was the outstanding dancer of the night without a doubt, and everyone knows it. shame bill didn't have the grace to even acknowledge the others
-
dance of the night - maisie and gorka's show dance second dance of the night - hrvy and janette's american smooth third dance of the night - bill and oti's couples choice. bill definitely raised his game, and performed the best he has all series. he's a popular winner, but not the best dancer. in an extraordinary year he…

something weird happens with bill he's only 55 but people really think he's older, even thought they know he's not, and mar him as if he were 75. in reality, bill is not even particularly agile for his age.
-
well that was always my view, and intention in any posting. then it all got serious somehow. likewise, merry christmas to all
-
hope maisie wins. hrvy second jamie third maybe bill will even manage to say something amusing. thanks goodness for strictly. especially now that boris has cancelled christmas
-
sure. let me know when you intend to meet the criteria you like to apply to others.

hi guys, can i ask that you stop making comments about me personally? i am not the topic and its starting to its feel like a bit of a pile on. yes you're free to ignore me. you're free to put me on ignore. you're free to respond to anything i say about bill bailey. you're free to report me as many of you seem to see fit.…

Thank you. Perhaps it’s a sign... that the worst dancers get remembered......for all the wrong reasons... but they don’t win!
-
On a par with Darren gough. From what I can remember. Which isn’t much.... Thanks for the correction on the boy with the cape. Was he a finalist?
-
Hm. The thread do seem determined that non appreciation of bill just isn’t allowed.
-
Well it’s a bit of a straw man as no one has mentioned weeping or jumping except you, far less as something positive. Of course you’re welcome to vote for whoever you want to based on whatever reasons you like. Fortunately, I have the same privilege. And this is the non appreciation thread. But I do owe you an apology,…

really hope the poll reflects the public vote maisie is an amazing dancer. hrvy is a good (but not actually that close) second. 3rd for me is jamie for his joy. last is bill. i don't see him as bringing much to the table. would rather have had ranvir.
-
normal year maisie, this year maisie. might not happen, but it should. :)

"It was always my intention to have fun on the show and I was hoping to stay in as long as possible. The trouble is that there is now a real danger that I might win the competition. Even for me that would be a joke too far. " John Sergeant in 2008. fast forward to 2020 and how things have changed. the worst dancer doesn't…

to be fair, there haven't been many contestants who turned out to be 20 years younger than they appear to be
-
i agree. but i still want maisie to win followed by hrvy.
-
i dont watch any other reality shows: i barely watch any TV, more than usual this year because of the pandemic though. i always miss strictly just after it finishes, but it doesn't last for long, and i can barely remember the contestants by the next year. its good not to be saturated by this stuff i think.

good morning all. i think i swallowed the blue pill. not that blue pill. the one that tells my brain that bill really is great fun and a talented dancer. i'm so looking forward to him winning. you can't have enough metal, stamping, leather and wise words on ordinary topics. if he'll only play sibelius on spoons that will…
