@aduh95 Thanks for opening this issue! I didn't know the right way to address this for PR nodejs/node#61177

As background for other readers:

Python version 3.9 reached end of life transition and has moved to the list of Python unsupported versions:

Python version	End of life
3.9	2025-10-31

RHEL 9

According to
https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/9/html-single/installing_and_using_dynamic_programming_languages/index

the default version of Python is 3.9 on RHEL 9. Python 3.11 and 3.12 are also available.

AIX

and for AIX https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/aix-toolbox-open-source-software-whats-new it seems that Python 3.12 is available and moving to be the default version.

Opened #4220. I don't think the Python version used for linting the files in this repository needs to be consistent with the ones on the CI machines, but we should migrate from End-of-Life Python 3.9.
