Infrasonic Press is an independent record label based in Erie, PA. Founded in 2019, our mission is to release music and art by adventurous composers, performers, bands, poets, and sound artists from the American Rust Belt.

Specializing in experimental music, Infrasonic Press sees experimentalism as more a set of practices than a specific genre, and the label’s releases have ranged from free improvisation and avant garde jazz, to microtonal hip hop, notated contemporary music, noise, and field recordings, among others.

Recent releases include WORK & PLAY, by the Buffalo-based ensemble, Wooden Cities, two volumes of Telepathic Music by the chamber ensemble The Evolution of the Arm, and the first album of entirely electronic music by composer Jeff Stadelman. In 2024, the label released Rust Belt Artists Against Genocide—a multimedia project with contributions from over 40 artists—to benefit organizations providing emergency aid to those suffering in Gaza.

Part of Infrasonic Press’s mission includes advocating for fair pay for culture workers from all backgrounds. The label is a dues-paying member of the Union of Musicians and Allied Workers, and in 2021, we joined thousands of music workers in signing on to the union’s Justice at Spotify campaign.  More recently, we have joined in solidarity with Bandcamp United in their efforts to unionize one of the key marketplaces for independent music.  This year, in solidarity with all who oppose the occupation and dispossession of Palestine, Infrasonic Press committed to the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel.

In 2022, the label launched the Infrasonic Series, a concert series based in our hometown of Erie, PA to connect touring experimental musicians with regional artists and help establish Erie as an important stop for adventurous musicians from across the country. This initiative received a StARTup grant from the Erie County Redevelopment Authority, ensuring that two years of concerts saw performers receiving fair compensation for their artistic labor.
