Open-source software to hide and lock folders within a computer

LocK-A-FoLdeR can be a great tool for those who have been looking for a method to hide the contents of a specific folder from the prying eyes of others. It is very easy to use and as this is an open-source package, there will be no payment required in order to download and activate the program.

Main Features and Uses

The primary intention of LocK-A-FoLdeR is to create encrypted files through the use of a user-generated master password. The process itself is very simple. First, the folder to be locked will be chosen. The user clicks on the icon and he or she creates a dedicated password. Once this password is entered and confirmed, the folder will be locked. However, it will also disappear from the desktop itself. Retrieving this 'hidden' folder will require that the user accesses the main program and enters the same password.

Additional Options

It is possible to hide an unlimited number of files with LocK-A-FoLdeR. Different passwords can be chosen for each file or a single password may be selected to unlock the entire group. It will require very little memory, so this package can be a great option for slower operating systems. It is able to work with Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

Great little tool, except if you have a folder that is locked, and you search via Windows Explorer for 'size:Gigantic' as an example, you can see 'hidden files' in the list, and proceed to view videos, etc. Not sure if this was ever considered so there is a security risk using the above method to gain access to your hidden files, etc.
