nomate’s new single One Night oscillates between driving post-punk energy and danceable new wave, telling the story of an attempt to mask inner emptiness through nights of excess and escapism.

At the center is an encounter in a club—a night that promises intimacy but ultimately serves only as a temporary escape. What begins playfully takes a turn as the song progresses: the facade cracks, revealing a contradictory self-caught between overconfidence, self-doubt, and the desire to escape one’s inner self for a moment.

“One Night” was created in collaboration with house producer Frederik Neu - a combination that is also reflected in the sound: analog drum machines and playful synthesizers meet sharp guitars and a minimalist post-punk dynamic. Combined with nomate’s unique voice, this creates a powerful and distinctive sound.

While the music appears light and carefree on the surface, the lyrics tell a much darker story. It is precisely this contrast that forms the core of the track: a catchy, almost pop-like chorus meets a depth of meaning that unfolds only gradually—and therein lies the strength of “One Night”.

With this new single, nomate builds on the attention garnered by earlier releases and presents a song that doesn’t resolve contradictions but deliberately lets them coexist.
