About Us
The University of Connecticut's Pre-Professional Advising Office provides advising and resources to UConn students and alumni exploring certain careers in the health professions. While our office specializes in supporting pre-medical, pre-dental, and pre-physician assistant students/alumni, we encourage anyone interested in a healthcare career to explore the many pathways available. Our advisors focus on competency-based advising, encouraging students and future applicants to engage in self reflection, rigorous pursuit of academic enrichment, and intentional exploration of co-curricular activities and engagement. Meet our advisors here, and learn more about our advising offerings here.
At the Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental Advising Office, we recognize the importance of Black and Brown lives, acknowledge systems of oppression, and center diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work. To this end, we are committed to a sustained, holistic approach to advising that supports and celebrates the success of students from historically marginalized, underrepresented groups.
Get Started
Whether you're interested in becoming a physician, dentist, physician assistant, or another health professional, your first step is to complete the Foundations for Future Healthcare Professionals Required Modules in HuskyCT.
These self-paced modules introduce you to the pre-health advising process, help you understand what it takes to be a competitive applicant, and connect you with the many resources, services, and opportunities available through the Pre-Professional Advising Office.
As part of the Foundations modules, you'll also sign up for the Pre-Health Newsletter. Together, the HuskyCT site and newsletter are our primary methods of communicating important information, including workshops, events, volunteer and clinical opportunities, research experiences, application resources, deadlines, and other opportunities both on and off campus. Staying connected ensures you receive timely updates throughout your pre-health journey.
Unlike many academic programs, there is no formal application or declaration process to become a pre-health student at UConn. Completing the Foundations modules serves as the best way to indicate your interest in pursuing a pre-health pathway and connect with the UConn pre-health community.
**Please note that our office supports current UConn degree‑seeking students and UConn alumni. Unfortunately, we are unable to support non‑degree students who are not currently completing a UConn degree or who have not previously earned one.**
