renardeThis has been a shit week. It was already a shit week when I sat back and evaluated it this morning. Then at lunchtime I learned that my colleague - a fellow sysadmin and a fantastically good person - has died.

Am feeling utterly drained. Kevin was only 53. He was phenomenally intelligent, but also (unlike so many of us geeks) passionate about physical activity. He hiked, he skiied, he scuba-dived. I've never seen him be anything but calm, polite, and genial.
Think I will go home and try to get myself together. Working here - and particularly the sysadmin restaurant forays - will be much less enjoyable now.
