There's a big difference between a sandbox and a computer built for agents, and I think it's worth laying out plainly. A sandbox is a temporary workspace where you can run your code safely, and when it's done, it disappears. That's it. You're done. Never see it again. A

Claude Managed Agents can now do their work on a Sprite. Anthropic runs the brain while you own the computer it types on.

You can run an agent on your laptop around the clock, but you probably shouldn't. Use a computer built for agents instead.

It's not a blog. It's not a landing page. It's an unholy combination of both things. A blanding page, or blander. I demand exclusive credit for the invention of this format, even though I had no hand in writing this one.

Telling your agent to be careful is silly. Just make it do things somewhere it doesn't have to be. Build agents that don't break themselves.

An agent that runs around the clock shouldn't live on a machine that sleeps when you sleep. Agents need their own computer.

Sprites are real, stateful computers for agents. They sleep when idle, wake the instant you ping the URL, and you only pay for what you use. Give your agent its own computer.

A year ago at ElixirConfEU I said dev is moving to remote envs and folks hated the idea. Seems undeniable now. I had a 5hr /goal run the other night that stayed on the rails. If that's the norm why wouldn't we have agents out there doing useful work?

I’d estimate we’re ~6 months from most devs moving their code agents off of their laptops

Sprite from @flydotio is freaking amazing for that. Provide remote url. Port forward automatically the port with distant instance. For sync in-between devices git is my go to but you can mount FS over SSH if you want.

When it comes to sandboxes for agents, you usually have to choose persistent state or scale-to-zero. Sprites give you both: real stateful computers for agents that sleep when idle and wake the instant you ping the URL. You only pay for what you use.

I got a whole AI agent running in a Sprite that I can talk to from anywhere through telegram. It just... lives there. It wakes up when I need it, and sleeps when I don't. Which is one of the best parts about it. What's the weirdest thing you've put in one?
