A 23 year old @lyft driver asked me for career advice.
I realized that I was 9 years older than him at that moment.
My Advice:
1. Build a network in what you are interested
2. Be abnormally helpful to everyone
3. Love the process and people
4. Build toward a mission
Everyone wants to start a startup.
Nobody wants to build for 5 years before anyone notices.
Everyone wants to be a VC.
Nobody wants to wait 10 years for returns.
Everybody wants to start a blog.
Nobody wants to write for 3 years before anybody starts reading.
Everybody wants to start a podcast.
Nobody is willing to record episodes for 2 years straight.
Everybody wants to write a book.
Nobody is willing to build an audience first.
It turns out the cheat code to life is just work ethic.
Good luck if you are trying for a short term angle, because you will be lapped by long term persistence.
