This Boeing whistleblower worked in Everett for 28 years and there's still nothing up on The Seattle Times or Everett Herald about this. At the end of yesterday, TMZ was still the only major US news outlet that had reported on this. And that's not weird. Not one bit!

It's been about 3 hours since the BBC broke this and the only US publication reporting on it is TMZ. WTF???

Seattle became the largest U.S. city to call for a long-term ceasefire last night and editors at The Seattle Times don't have their own story on it anywhere on their website's front page. It's completely buried. It did get covered! And then buried.

The Seattle City Council approved a resolution calling for a cease-fire in Gaza late Tuesday, a month after a similar resolution was not even considered. st.news/49KWDFf

Sometimes when you tell government to do a good thing for the people they serve and the bigger picture with their money, it actually happens at some point. Whoa! What?! Cool!

You're always in for a rough ride when you speak uncomfortable truth to power, especially your employer. Stay gutsy.

"SHOPPERS are questioning if crime is really to blame, not us--a newspaper full of reporters--we would never!" Sad day when a newspaper is for some reason ashamed to be seen as questioning the credibility of a corporate press release narrative.🤦‍♀️

Seattle's police chief got fired because a love note from a side-chick he brought on payroll was found in this Papyrus card and I'm sorry it's just not getting enough attention.

I'd like to remind "reporters" once again that if all they're gonna do is parrot what corporate press releases say without question, they can make about five times the salary they do now if they just go ahead and work for them directly. Seriously, WTF are you waiting for?

Seattle Times headline: Target closing stores due to crime. 21st paragraph: Shoplifting is down 60% overall, 40% in UDistrict, and 35% downtown. Next graph: Retailers don't always report, so you can just treat those numbers like they don't matter. 12ft.io/proxy?q=https%…
Statewide, the Washington Retail Association says theft costs businesses $2.7 billion a year.

Seattle police data shows shoplifting incidents from January to August were down 60% compared to the same period last year. In the U-District, they were down 40% compared to the same period last year. In downtown, where retailers including Nike have closed because of crime, shoplifting incidents were down 35%, according to SPD data.

Some retailers say they may not always report incidents of theft to the police.

"For context, Seattle is the *only* city in WA that currently allows employers to subsidize wages with tips. AK, OR & CA have also banned tip credits. It's an outdated, regressive policy that was always intended to be a stopgap for small businesses."

As someone who tried to do respectable journalism at The Seattle Times while its opinion section opinioned awful opinions, I feel for every good reporter and editor at Crosscut who probably hates this.
