    UPDATE: The air quality has now moved to Code Purple today, July 17. Air pollution within the region is very unhealthy for the general population. The risk of health effects is increased for everyone. Effects can be minimized by avoiding strenuous outdoor activity or exercise.

    On July 15, 2026, a public wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery to honor the 82nd Liberation Day of Guam.

    From July 15 to Oct. 15, ANMC's horticulture team will renovate Sections 3, 14, 22, 23, 41, 46S, 52, 54W and 81 of Arlington National Cemetery. In addition, Sections K and L at the Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemetery will undergo turf renovations.

    Earlier today, Italian Carabinieri Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Salvatore Luongo & Defense Attaché Maj. Gen. Davide Marzinotto laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They were hosted by @ArlingtonNatl Superintendent John Knapp and Command Sgt. Maj. Joshua Spaulding.

    On July 5, ANMC joined Gold Star Mothers & partner organizations for a Rededication Ceremony of the Sacred Soil Marker in Sec. 18. In honor of America's 250 anniversary, "sacred soil" was gathered from WWI battlefields & placed into a renewed Sacred Soil Marker at ANC.
