I don’t think everyone has wrapped their minds around just how different our relationship with software is now. We work with teams who have been doing battle with some massive, broken, archaic system for YEARS. A week later it’s completely rewritten. It’s just gone. POOF.

I was very very sad when I learned the Domino’s pizza tracker is entirely fake (based solely on time since order), but I have to commend whatever engineer suggested doing that instead of spending $200 million building out the infrastructure to support it being real

Paying taxes hits different when you see just how many places it gets blown for nothing. $100 million here, $500 million there, $5 billion over there, $300 million there. People work their entire lives to pay $500k in taxes, and it’s a rounding error on one wasteful program.
