There should be times where kids aren’t coached by adults. Play pickup. No adult instruction. Call your own fouls. No refs. Argue about the ball going out of bounds. Shoot for who gets to keep it. Keep your own score. Winner stays on. Losers sit. Next five up. Compete!

Great players want to WIN more than they want to post huge individual stats. Great players want to play with other talented players to be at their best. Great players understand that playing with the right talent around them only enhances their game & performance.

With the boom in the Transfer Portal, any college MAKING the effort to come evaluate potential recruits play means more than ever. If you are a ‘23 or ‘24 and a college is coming to see you play at an NCAA event, that means you are a real priority on their list. Pay attention.

Recruits You will NOT fit in every coaches program & scheme. You will NOT get an offer from every school who recruits you. But that does NOT mean you cannot hoop. Stay PATIENT. Find a program that you love who ALSO loves you. When it happens, it’s the BEST of both worlds.

I just watched one of the best Final Four’s of my lifetimes & a title game in ABC. LSU scored 100+ in a title game. Unprecedented. Record breaking. Yet my whole timeline is full of racial debates & talk. No mention of how good LSU’s offense was… This isn’t it people. At all.

I’ve been in the recruiting business for 22 years. Most days, it doesn’t make sense to me. And it shouldn’t make sense to you either. Sit 10 coaches at a game and you’ll get 10 different opinions of what they see. Beauty is in the eye of the person watching. STAY THE COURSE!

I do NOT care how good your club team is… It is almost impossible to get scholarship offers if you don’t play 8-10 minutes or more in every game. College coaches don’t have to take risks anymore. They can take transfers. YOU. HAVE. TO. GET. PLAYING. TIME.
