A pair of 18-unit transit-oriented apartment buildings will replace vacant City land near the CTA’s 63rd/Ashland Green Line station in West Englewood. Planned by E.G. Woode L3C in response to a DPD RFP, each building will also have ancillary retail and parking for 20 bikes.

Plan Commission approved Venture One Real Estate's proposed industrial facility at 3000 W. 51st St. in Gage Park. The $65 million project includes a 235,137-square-foot Amazon warehouse, 244 parking spaces and two acres of community open space on a former steel facility site.

The Chicago Torture Justice Memorial broke ground in Washington Park, with Mayor Johnson and Commissioner Boatright joining the project team, victims and their supporters. Designed to heal and educate, the $4.9M project is rising on four former City lots near 55th and King.

Landmarks Commission approved a $250,000 Adopt-A-Landmark grant to support renovation of the former Schlitz Brewery-Tied House at 958 W. 69th St. in Englewood. The $377,291 project includes a new roof, parapet repairs and structural upgrades for the 1898 building.

Landmarks Commission approved a final landmark recommendation for the Bryn Mawr Avenue District. The three-block stretch between Sheridan and Broadway in Edgewater includes 15 contributing buildings built from 1897-1929, highlighting the area's turn-of-the-century evolution.

The Shop Building at Altgeld Gardens, 13100 S. Ellis Ave., received a final landmark recommendation from the Landmarks Commission. Also known as the Up Top Building, the modernist structure was built in 1945 as the commercial hub for the public housing complex in Riverdale.
