Lots of new friends; here’s what we do and how you can get involved. We invest in small dollar loans (<$250k) and contractual cash flows. Examples: small business, consumer loans, bridge real estate, music royalties advances, litigation finance, etc.

Great read! Love this: “Imagine if cavemen had been shown the smartphone you’re using to record me. What would they have thought about this special rock? Now imagine that Oumuamua is the iPhone, and we are the cavemen.”

Google “unclaimed property [your state]” Find your states site. Search for you and your extended families names. I just found >$15k of unclaimed cash for all my extended family, including $75 for myself. Great IRR on this one…

Friend sold his 20-yo company. So glad for him. After the press release came out, several old employees/advisors asked for a cut. “Remember how much I did for the company? You should pay me some of those proceeds.” WTF?

We are hiring an Investment Analyst. This person will work closely with me and spend a lot of time in Excel. Hot tip first interview question: What’s your favorite Excel function and why?

If you’re currently buying <1-yr treasuries at 4%, should you just overpay your taxes instead? You’d get that refunded at tax time and earn 6-7% on that balance. Not tax or financial advice…

Any VCs raising for their first or second fund presently? Am looking to allocate in $25-100k slugs from an entity I manage. Would like to see 10-20 funds and pick 2-3. DM if raising.

Drove from LA to Seattle. If you ever doubt the greatness of this country, get out and see it all. Great reminder of how special this place can be. Crater Lake, OR Deepest blue I’ve seen in forever.

I’ve now spent 9 years in equities and 9 years in debt. Understanding one is so valuable for understanding the other. I’m a big proponent of mid-career shifts within your industry.

“I’ve always thought of the gov’t as my 50% silent partner. Between cap gains, income, and sales taxes, they’re getting half. When they put a rent moratorium in place I realized they also have the controlling equity vote.” - Overheard at @CapitalCamp by a multi family landlord
