Most people assume that if the NHS needs more specialist doctors, the Government would train more of them. But that’s not actually what’s happening. The Government can decide how many specialist training jobs exist each year. They can increase them, reduce them, or remove them

A national scandal is quietly unfolding in the NHS. 1000s of doctors are being blocked from becoming Consultants & GPs because the Government is restricting training spots. The public aren’t being told. Unemployed doctors while waiting lists soar is nothing short of madness.

There’s a scandal unfolding in the NHS. Thousands of doctors are being locked out of training jobs; left unemployed, unable to become GPs or consultants. All while patients wait months for care. @wesstreeting knows this. So why is he refusing to act?

Overworked, underpaid, and subjected to unnecessary hostility. An NHS doctor was prevented from accessing the ward kitchen for a simple glass of tap water. It’s no surprise so many doctors are leaving for countries where they’re valued, respected, and treated with basic dignity.

This case is utterly tragic. A patient experiencing abdominal pain and vomiting was seen by a physician associate and diagnosed with a nosebleed, and was discharged from hospital that same day. She died two days later after having a catastrophic bowel obstruction. The coroner

NHS hospitals are now charging patients £2/hr just to sit in a wheelchair in A+E. These are some of the sickest patients, who often have to wait hours to be seen. The NHS is crumbling, and is being eaten away by constant privatisation. When will @wesstreeting act?

Physician Associates are being renamed to Physician Assistants because the public was confused about their role. But here’s what’s truly confusing: A physician assistant now starts on a salary that’s nearly £10,000 more than a fully qualified doctor. Read that again. Doctors

How did this article make it to publication from @BBCNews? GPs are entitled to attend mandatory training. It’s part of their job description. Medicine is an ever changing field, so sessions like these are essential for CPD. This is standard practice across the public sector.

Doctors in the UK are working in restaurants because they can’t find an NHS job. 20,000 doctors will be potentially be out of a NHS speciality training job this August, due to government restrictions on training spots. There is no rational reason for this restriction to exist.

To become a GP, you need 10+ years of training. Yet we have other staff working in general practice that are working similarly to GPs by seeing high risk undifferentiated patients, but with only 2 yrs of medical training rather than 10. We also have 1000s of GPs out of work who

Wes Streeting said he’s responsible for long ambulance waits and the lack of GP appointments. What he failed to mention is that he is also responsible for 20,000 NHS doctors potentially being out of a speciality training job this August and being unable to become

On the train today, I was talking to a family member about going to see their GP. A man overheard and cut in: “GPs are useless. They don’t do anything. You’re better off seeing a specialist.” The reality for GPs? Ten minute appointments to unpick complex problems. Hundreds of

There’s a reason it takes weeks to see your GP & years to get your surgery. The UK is an under-doctored country; yet thousands of doctors are being blocked from progressing to become Consultants & GPs because the Government has artificially capped the number of speciality

A doctor caring for you at 7pm in A&E earns just £18.62/hr They’re asking to move to £22.67/hr (not even all at once) to undo years of pay erosion. @wesstreeting could stop the strikes by offering a credible path to restore drs pay. The choice is his.
