I am overwhelmed & deeply grateful for your support & kind words on my election as Vice President of @WHO Executive Board. My sincere gratitude also to @MOH_Kenya led by CS Mutahi Kagwe, for their confidence in me. I will endeavor to represent Kenya with dignity & honor. Asante!

Lemon and Ginger are definitely immune boosters for the body, but they are NOT a cure for COVID-19. So whereas it is a good habit to take them regularly to help with improving immunity, please couple that with handwashing; sanitizing; keeping social distance and wearing of masks.

1/3. Today my heart is heavy having lost four colleagues to Covid-19 in the last 24 hrs. For a country that barely has enough healthcare workers, 4 is too many a loss especially midst such a crisis.

From next week, I'll be dedicating 1 hr every Wednesday (11am-12pm) to clarify on various technical issues around initiatives taken by @MOH_Kenya towards managing #Covid_19. This #AskTheDG session will complement our daily pressers, which continue to be headed by CS Mutahi Kagwe.

Today is a sad day for our frontline healthcare workers. We’ve sadly lost one of us, Dr. Adisa Doreen Lugaliki, to #COVID19. This is a sad reminder that COVID-19 doesn’t discriminate in its attack. We’re ALL susceptible to its brutality. Sincere condolences from @MOH_Kenya family

This morning the United Nations Resident Coordinator @sidchat1 paid a courtesy call on me at @MOH_Kenya to share his personal & UN’s congratulatory messages on my new role as VP of @WHO Exec Board. We discussed extensively on multilateralism in Health, especially UHC. Thanks Sid.

This morning I reiterate the kind words of my colleague @DrTedros, the DG of @WHO: ‘The pandemic has shown us that there’s NO HEALTH WITHOUT HEALTH WORKERS’. I salute every healthcare worker (all 17 cadres) who have continued to make sacrifices towards defeating COVID-19. 1/3

The virus is treating us abnormally because some have treated it normally. I implore everyone to wear MASKS, WASH HANDS regularly, SANITIZE, avoid body contact by keeping PHYSICAL DISTANCE at all time. Do all these simultaneously to reduce risk of infection. Covid-19 is real.

During this festive season, please be careful. Observe all the infection prevention measures. Wash hands, wear masks properly covering nose and mouth, sanitize regularly and PLEASE keep physical distance. Many may be on vacation, but COVID-19 is not. Keep safe. Merry Christmas.

To demonstrate my confidence in the #COVID19, and allay any fears about it, I have received the first shot of the vaccine at @KNH_hospital. Whereas we are optimistic this vaccine will be effective, I still urge that we observe all protocols. #AskTheDG

UPDATE: Today we have recorded the highest number of positive cases at 307. Even though our fatality rate is 2.3% which is better than the global average of 6.7%, the numbers point to increasing infections. #KomeshaCorona by practicing our laid down protocols.
