THAT'S IT? This is what 20 years worth of spent nuclear fuel looks like safely stored at the former Maine Yankee nuclear plant. The energy produced from this fuel helped avoid 70 million metric tons of CO2 emissions.

THAT’S IT? This is what 20 years’ worth of spent nuclear fuel looks like safely stored at the former Maine Yankee nuclear plant. The plant generated 119 billion kilowatt hours of reliable power from 1972-1996, which is enough to power half a million homes each year.

ON THE MOVE: This transportable microreactor developed by @WECNuclear is being designed to generate 5 MWe and operate for up to 8 years or longer without refueling. Westinghouse is one of two companies selected to test in DOME — the world’s first microreactor test bed at @INL.

So, how big is a microreactor? Our MARVEL reactor will be roughly the size of an average sedan and produce enough energy to power 10 U.S. homes.
