The core aim is to contribute to #policymaking and innovation through applied research. 1/
We are so delighted to share that Ilke Toygür (@IlkeToygur) has been named the new director of @IEuniversity’s Center for Innovation in Global Politics and Economics!
Whatever happens, the Turkish opposition should be praised for putting up the good fight against all the odds. No free media, no free judiciary; state resources are being used in favour of the incumbent; electoral laws are being changed acc. to needs. Not an easy task. Anywhere.
I am very much aware of the internal dynamics that lead to this proposal but this is so unfair to #Turkey and #Kosovo. Visa free travel has been so desired for long by them.
Commission proposes visa-free travel to the EU for Qatar and Kuwait nationals
📣📣 Personal news: I have been granted @CATS_Network Fellowship at @SWPBerlin@SWP_Europe. Starting from today I will be working on #EU's & #Turkey's foreign and security policy and the impact of FP on TR-EU relations. Stay tuned for more on the project!
I am very proud of them not because they are Turkish, but because they are children of immigrants that overcame many difficulties to become who they are today. Thank you!
All eyes are on Russia. This crisis thought us once again the importance of well-functioning relations with neighbours. I have an innovative proposal for the EU's relationship with #Turkey. Here it is explained shortly in a @Carnegie_Europe publication. 🧵

Bu haber haksizlik olmus. Faruk Kaymakci’yi bilen bilir, iyisiyle kotusuyle on yillardir Turkiye-Avrupa Birligi iliskilerine emek vermis, ileriye goturmeye calismis bir diplomattir. Hem ingilizce hem de fransizca konusur.
The problem is EU’s interests are not necessary fully compatible with solidarity with Greece and Cyprus. Being a side and an honest intermediary at the same conflict makes it very difficult for the EU. This is different than Belarus or Ukraine.
On the Eastern Mediterranean and Turkey, we are clear and determined in defending EU’s interests and solidarity with Greece and Cyprus. We want to find paths towards a healthier relationship. It is in the mutual interest of both the EU and Turkey
For having a fair election, you need to have free media and no control over state resources (aka you cannot campaign for a mayorship using Presidency budget) #justsaying
