Good time to recall that in the previous administration, we NEVER boasted about the stock market -- even though the Dow more than doubled on Obama's watch -- because we knew two things: 1) the stock market is not the economy; and 2) if you claim the rise, you own the fall.

5 years ago today was my worst day at the White House. I saw my normally stoic boss break down. I lost my composure at the briefing. As a parent, I could not comprehend the horror of #SandyHook. I think of those innocent children, and their brave teachers, all the time.

I once had to tell Chinese officials that Pres. Obama would not show up for the press avail unless there would be a Q&A. They backed down.

China isn’t supposed to have a say about press access. Previous press secs used to fight with Chinese counterparts for press access when in China. Witnessed personally.

Actually, after he clerked for Chief Justice Rehnquist in 2001, McGurk was appointed by George W. Bush to be special assistant to the president and senior director at the NSC for Iraq & Afghanistan. He served under both Bush and Obama. Like Bob Gates.

Brett McGurk, who I do not know, was appointed by President Obama in 2015. Was supposed to leave in February but he just resigned prior to leaving. Grandstander? The Fake News is making such a big deal about this nothing event!

You mean to tell me that all those years Paul Ryan was lecturing us in the Obama White House about the imperative of fiscal responsibility, he wasn’t on the level? And that reporters who wrote puff pieces about Ryan as a wonky budget hawk were all duped? Oh, my.

New (and predictable): Federal budget deficit ballooned in first four months of 2019, up 77% from a year ago as tax revenue plummeted and government spending went up. Treasury Dept figures show deficit hitting $310 billion, up from $176 billion.

I'm heartened to see the surge in support for my former boss, @JoeBiden, in the wake of his massive SC primary win. As vice president and senator, Biden always sought to do what was best--for the country and for average Americans. And he was, and is, decent to his core.
