Jim Naughtie and I famously crossed swords when he mispronounced my last name (the first of many to do so!). Here he interviews me for one of the most thoughtful half hours I have ever done about what it is like to be a politician in Britain today
Really good discussion of why we need to reform the triple lock in today’s @thetimes

In politics, we’re torn between ideals and practicalities, aspirations and realities, the world as we want it, and as we find it
But one day a manifesto comes along that reconciles both in every pledge.
A rare moment of clarity and hope
Harmed families deserve confidence that lessons from past maternity tragedies are learned. I’ve written to James Murray following Dr Kirkup’s resignation from the Amos Investigation, seeking assurances that the role of “normal birth” ideology will not be swept under the carpet.
Deeply worried to hear that Dr Bill Kirkup, author of the Morecambe Bay and East Kent maternity reports, resigned from the Amos review because he thought it whitewashed the issue of 'normal births.' Only last week @DOckendenLtd - rightly - said the issue 'caused long-term harm.'
Incredibly sad to hear of the passing of Dame Penelope Keith CBE.She was a neighbour & friend where she was dearly loved by all who knew her in Milford. She helped Britain laugh at itself, one of our best national qualities, &brought happiness to millions. RIP dear Penny
