One of my co-workers once told me he would smoke me in Smash, so I invited him over, and he went for raw falcon punch as soon as the first game started.
I met a guy at a Melee local once that had a tattoo of a stichface with a date under it. He told me the date was the day he took a game off Armada in the Peach ditto in friendlies.
In the Smash scene I think it's kind of sad that we have commodified the idea of friendlies. Between money matches and metafy we put a dollar sign on what use to just be sharing knowledge and experience with other players who have the same passion as you.
You show up to the local in your work clothes. Your opp is half your age and has been warming up since 11am. You lose in under 5 min. He offers some advice you didn't ask for, you bump fists and say ggs. You'll never be great at anything in life again. I guess this is growing up.
