This happened last night! I’m sure the web is awash with northern lights photos and here are mine. I’ve never seen anything like this before. Absolutely incredible. No filter either.

My day began like this. A 3 hour ambulance journey & now in casualty. It seems I suffered a small stroke last night. I’m going to be admitted for observation. To say I’m gutted is an understatement. A huge thank you to my hosts Carole & Jim for taking such wonderful care of me.

An update. I’ll be in hospital for a few days yet. I require speech & language therapy as well as help with my eyesight which has been affected. I’ll be moved into a specialist ward. Thank you again for all your warm words of support. It’s lovely to know you are thinking of me.

The most amazing thing has happened. I was hunkered in my tent when a woman calls “hello”. I’m invited across the road for dinner. Cannelloni no less. They did not know my story, just that I must’ve looked damp & cold when I arrived. The human capacity for kindness is wonderful.

I’m staying put today. It’s far too peaceful to leave. The feeling of deep solitude is powerfully alluring. I’m having the time of my life right now.

It’s hard not to whoop gleefully just yet but I will. Results from my scans show me to be v healthy vein & artery wise. It’s highly unlikely this episode was the result of a stroke & is probably a palsy. I’m SO relieved! I’m v grateful for the NHS’s compassionate thoroughness.😊

I’m out of hospital! Thank you again for all your love & words of support. Tonight I’m in our wee camper close to Loch Ness. Tomorrow, back to Skye. To be honest, I’ve a sense of bemusement & haven’t really grasped what’s occurred. I’m incredibly fortunate, that’s for sure.

From this to this. It’s hard not to feel despondent about my change in circumstances. I tell myself though I’m incredibly fortunate for so many things! I await further intense medical tests since my stroke has been deemed complicated. I have to now accept whatever presents.

Despite the below freezing temps, I’m easily keeping warm & dry. The tent is a wonderful shelter. I’ve a down sleeping bag & a highly rated insulated sleeping mat. I’m dressed in quality thermal clothing. I’ve plenty of food, fuel & water. In fact I want for nothing. I’m safe.😊
