This is the finest book I have read all year; beautifully written, funny, uplifting. Incredibly proud of @_F_B_G_ for somehow writing it on top of his busy ministry and numerous other pieces of work. If so inclined, you can get your copy here:

I like how Louis is considered too much of a loose cannon to have at the funeral. Not even 5 and already the Princess Margaret of his generation

Bad news for Starmer and Macron. Vance confirms the only US security guarantee in Ukraine will be the mineral deal. He also plays down British & French peacekeeping troops as “20k troops from some random country that hasn’t fought a war in 30 or 40 years”.

As wedding pictures go it doesn't get much better than Queen Victoria insisting on photobombing her son and his wife, by sitting between them wearing full mourning dress and staring at a bust of her dead husband

It’s quite nuts that Ivor Caplin’s Twitter feed is 10% praising Keir and 90% sharing gay porn. And yet he’s followed by loads of Labour big-wigs; meaning that whoever manages Rachel Reeves’s account is having to sift through endless tweets of him asking random people to bum him

TIME magazine made a terrible mistake in failing to nominate Gisèle Pelicot for person of the year. Her stand is, I think, changing societal views about sexual stigma – all done in the hope that future victims won't ever feel ashamed about coming forward again. It's breathtaking

“Mrs Pelicot is not ashamed to mention [this] because she believes that this [information] can be useful to others.” Gisèle Pelicot’s lawyer Stéphane Babonneau says that the 72-year-old contracted four STDs after being drugged by her former husband and allegedly raped by at

Just clocked that Rosie Duffield wore a dinosaur badge today – presumably in honour of David Lammy (he of "men can grow a cervix" fame) referring to gender-critical feminists as "dinosaurs hoarding women's rights". What an absolute boss

Lib Dem MP Tessa Munt is furious that Katie Lam brought up one of the most terrible examples of child abuse in UK history... during a debate on child abuse. This mention of the grooming gangs apparently makes her "blood boil" (but not the fact that it happened) This is monstrous

Just heard from a friend out canvassing for Labour that they doorknocked an old lady who said she’d never vote for them again because of “Hugh Gaitskell’s stance on Suez”. I hope to be similarly niche in my rationales one day

Not sure which is more depressing - that we have a Member of Parliament actually calling for blasphemy laws, or a Prime Minister too frit to say "no, we believe in freedom of expression, sod off" (perhaps in more parliamentary language)

Her response was worse but note Jess Phillips's performative sighing and huffing when Katie Lam mentions the racially aggravated nature of the grooming gangs. As if it's beneath her dignity even to listen
