.@CR_UK is what it is thanks to its brilliant people & they’ve never worked so hard than over the last few months. I’ve outlined our 3-year recovery plan & steps we’re taking to reduce our costs, which sadly means consulting on the reduction of 500 roles bit.ly/30hLyse

I’m so sad to hear this news. It's been a privilege to have worked with Deborah as she's shared her journey with the world. Even at this most challenging time, she's determined to raise money & awareness by setting up the Bowelbabe Fund. Thinking of you Deborah, & your loved ones

We welcomed @Keir_Starmer and @wesstreeting to @TheCrick this morning to discuss how innovations in cancer research can transform cancer survival. We visited the wonderful @MariamJHanjani & team to hear about cancer research and @CR_UK funded TracerX programme. @CRUK_Policy

The Palace of Westminster is lit up in @CR_UK colours to mark our 20th anniversary, a lovely way to round up #WorldCancerDay! Not only are we celebrating 20 years of CRUK, but 120 years of #LifesavingDiscoveries, since the founding of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund.

Happy New Year! I’ve had some time to reflect, recharge and look forward to 2020. It’s a privilege to be chief exec of @CR_UK, but I admit I find it challenging to maintain a work-life balance. This year, I’m going to make time for the four Fs – friends, family, fun and fitness!

I continue to be blown away by people’s generosity and compassion, as the total raised for the Bowelbabe Fund is now at £2.7m and rising. We’ll continue to work closely with Deborah’s family & other charities she’s so passionate about, including @BowelCancerUK and @RoyalMarsden

Huge news from #G7: @10DowningStreet and @POTUS will convene the first bilateral UK/US cancer summit. Cancer is one of the greatest global challenges - no country can solve it alone. Hope this leads to more collaboration & progress for people with cancer whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/…

We @CR_UK and 46 charities call on Government to invest in cancer services and help clear the backlog of cancer cases. For the first time in decades, we face the real possibility cancer survival could go backwards. Urgent action is required #OneCancerVoice

Still reflecting on this piece from the admirable @BowelBabe who makes an excellent case. Government funding in more NHS staff and kit would mean patients can be diagnosed and treated sooner, increasing their chance of survival. @RishiSunak #CancerWontWait

At @CR_UK we predict a £300m fall in income over three years. It's estimated that 18 months of progress in research has already been lost. Gov must act now to help medical research charities – or we risk possibility that cancer survival could go backwards.

I’m devastated by the death of Deborah James. She was a wonderful person who showed incredible support for the causes she cared about, right up until she died. Her legacy will live on for years to come. I’ll miss her greatly and I’m thinking of her family.
