A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Brooklyn, Queens & Nassau County through 1:30 PM. If you’re in a basement, prepare to move to higher ground. Do not wait to see the water. Never walk or drive through floodwater—6" can knock you off your feet, and 1' can sweep away a car.

As temperatures rise, it’s important to keep people who are at higher risk safe from extreme heat — specifically adults 60+, pregnant people, children & people with disabilities. Make sure they drink plenty of water, even if they're not thirsty, & find an air-conditioned space.

New Yorkers: As you head home from work, the electric grid continues to work overtime. Some tips to conserve energy: - Don't plug in EVs, scooters & bikes until 9pm - Cool down the house slowly, set the temp between 75-78° - Don’t run appliances until 9pm - Check on neighbors!
