Would the voucher scam have passed if billionaire Jeff Yass and Greg Abbott hadn’t teamed up to push out every Republican who stood in its way? A system of government corrupted by outside wealth and influence will ultimately lose sight of who it’s supposed to serve: the people.

Let’s call the Paramount/Warner Brothers-Discovery merger what it is: a commercial and political power play. Democratic attorneys general are the ones defending markets and consumers, and serving as a much-needed check on the abuse of power by Trump and his dinner hosts.
