Michael Sheen performing 'Do not go gentle into that good night' by Dylan Thomas is everything you'd hope it to be ❤️ The poet's masterful Under Milk Wood was first read in New York on 14 May 1953. Our staging reopens the Olivier on 16 June. #DylanDay #BackOnStage

We're devastated to hear that Helen McCrory has died and will miss her terribly. Our thoughts are with her friends and family at this very sad time.
We are devastated to hear of the passing of Helen McCrory, unquestionably one of the great actors of her generation.

Helen had a long and rich association with the National Theatre, including most recently a towering performance as Medea and a definitive Hester Collyer in The Deep Blue Sea.

With her incisive wit and ferocious intelligence, she was one of our most charismatic and distinctive performers. She was also a deeply beloved member of this theatre’s broader community.

All my colleagues join me in wishing her family and friends our deepest condolences. We are shattered, and will all miss her terribly.

We’re devastated to hear of the death of Dame Maggie Smith, whose career has spanned the theatrical, film and television world without equal. 💔 Her relationship with the National Theatre began in its very first season in 1963, working alongside Laurence Olivier at the Old Vic.

We're deeply saddened to hear of the death of Paul Ritter. Paul performed at the National Theatre in several shows including All My Sons (2000), The Coast of Utopia (2002), Coram Boy (2005) and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (2012). He will be greatly missed.

It’s 2021. We’re all able to go outside. The theatres and pubs are open again. There’s plenty of toilet roll. No one has to queue at the supermarket. Zoom chats are a distant memory. #OneManTwoGuvnors #NationalTheatreAtHome
