I’m reading a book on Sam Bankman-fried and the infamous FTX collapse and there’s one big thing I don’t think I’ll ever understand:
FTX was a legitimate healthy business that was worth north of 32 Billion and Sam decided to steal customer funds from it to keep his, dying

FTX was only valued at $32B based on fraudulent accounting that treated transactions with its affiliated hedge fund incorrectly. The valuation was based on false accounting, and the false accounting relied on related party transactions with the hedge fund.
