For Mother's Day, we've collected our essays from our first issue on the family, from radical mothering to the captive maternal, from how mothers shape our life from the beginning to adopted kinship and the political struggle of working mothers and beyond.

THE PSYCHOSOCIAL FOUNDATION (@PsychosocialFo1) & PARAPRAXIS commit to PACBI & stand in solidarity with Palestine.
THE PSYCHOSOCIAL FOUNDATION & PARAPRAXIS COMMIT TO PACBI
& stand in solidarity with Palestine.

The question of a people’s right to self-determination is unavoidably a psychoanalytic question. Ideas of freedom, liberation, safety, wellbeing, and resistance all have far-reaching psychic and social implications. As a space of psychosocial education and a magazine charged with a commitment to leftist psychoanalytic thought, we are committed to a politically radical horizon
of political emancipation. At both the Psychosocial Foundation and Parapraxis, recently we collectively took up the question of reparations as “an action: to repair.” Our unsettled conclusion was that “repair is not an event, but an ongoing demand.” And our deep engagement with thinkers like Frantz Fanon, who held questions of decolonization and repair in tension, compels us to tether our intellectual considerations with material struggle as he and countless others have done and continue to do.
Thus, and in solidarity with Palestinian people and their ongoing struggle for liberation and self-determination, we as editors of Parapraxis, have committed wholeheartedly to the international call for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions and, specifically, to adopt the guidelines for the Palestinian Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI). In our collective and individual capacity as editors and educators, we commit to:

A refusal of collaboration or participation with or funding from Israeli state institutions
Publications of and emphatic support for Palestinian scholars and cultural workers without any qualified demand that they legitimize their politics through collaborations with Israeli counterparts
Advocating for a comprehensive boycott of Israeli institutions both nationally and internationally, as well as a boycott of all academic and cultural projects that attempt any normalization of the state of Israel’s oppression of Palestinians whether in Gaza, the West Bank, or Israel
Both promoting divestment from the Israeli state and amplifying international condemnation of Israel’s state policy
We emphasize that this boycott is not a boycott of individuals based on identity or nationality, rather a principled boycott that seeks to separate Parapraxis and The Psychosocial Foundation from the ideology of Zionism and from projects that rely on the material support of state of Israel (its various academic and cultural manifestations through state-funded festivals, art and performance exhibitions, conferences, and so on).

Signed,
The Editors of Parapraxis and the Board of The Psychosocial Foundation
