If, as a Christian, you want the government to uphold your values on abortion, sexuality and education, why don’t you want them to reflect the Christian values of helping the poor, feeding the hungry and welcoming refugees?

Seems like conservative Christians (those who follow scripture) would support refugees, immigrants, the poor and the unborn-plus health care for all, gun safety and protecting the climate. Seems like conservative Republicans don’t support most of this.

My prescription for the Evangelical movement - turn away from divisive politics and focus on the mission given to us by Christ: Feed the hungry, love our neighbors, serve the poor, preach the good news and disciple the next generation. Not complicated.

Christians should now do what they should have done for the past four years - support policies that align with Christian principles and oppose and criticize policies that do not. In everything else-grace. No president deserves blind support or categorical rejection.

I don’t think The politicization of Evangelicals is driven from the pulpit by pastors- it’s led and fed by cable news. Pastors have the people for one hour each week - cable news has them every day.

As a former CEO let me say that CEO pay is ludicrous. All of those jobs would be easily filled if the compensation was cut in half.Yet we can’t ‘afford’ to pay a living wage to folks at the bottom. Here’s a principle I believe in: We are all better off when we are ALL better off.

The entire Old Testament is about the failure of God’s chosen people to establish a kingdom based on political power. The entire New Testament is about the establishment of God’s kingdom based on forgiveness, love and service to others. Yet we still want to seek political power.

I just don’t understand vaccine resistance. 100 million have been vaccinated (just in the US) with Zero deaths and virtually no reactions. Covid has killed more than 550 THOUSAND. “Yeah, I’ll take my chances with Covid?”

Christian ministry is a workaholic’s dream job. ‘Sure, I’m ignoring my family but I’m doing it for God.’ But believing that God’s ministry will fail without you working 80 hours a week is a form of idolatry. Don’t make God your excuse for your workaholism.

So many voters are deciding based on what’s best for THEM - price of eggs, manufacturing jobs, lower taxes, etc. But self interest is not the Christian way. Instead we should ask which candidate will be most helpful to my neighbors - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

The American Dream: I worked hard, I earned it and it’s mine to do with as I please. The Christian Dream: Everything I have comes from God and he has by entrusted me to use it to spread the gospel, love my neighbors and build for his kingdom. It’s not about me.
