It seems like folks aren't understanding how absolutely ludicrous this is. Considering how different baseball was in the literal 1800s, he's essentially the first player EVER to do this. 30 home runs AND 200 strikeouts pitched? Nobody has ever defined MVP better then 2022 Ohtani

Stop us if you've heard this before, but Shohei Ohtani did something that hadn't happened in over 100 years... He's the 1st player since 1890 to finish Top-5 in both HR hit and strikeouts pitched, with 34 HR and 219 K. He's just the 4th player all-time to accomplish this feat.

Baltimore: Hires GM from Houston and very clearly following Astros/Cubs blueprint (that won a World Series) to the letter. Buster accuses them of ruining baseball. Oakland/Cleveland/others: Actively jettisoning quality players *solely* in the name of saving money. Silence.

The Orioles' '22 projected payroll is another example that NOTHING has been done to curb tanking: spotrac.com/mlb/baltimore-… The only way this issue can be dealt with, in the next CBA, is if MLB and the union can repair together. Engagement required. Because this is a joke.
