A report that’s been a while in the making. Serious allegations of neglect at one care home, that shine a light on how the adult social care system at large is letting down dementia patients.
My Grandma watches Sky News a lot… Mainly because we have a clock on screen and also because I’m on it. Sometimes she texts with very precise thoughts after she’s seen me. Like when I was talking about the weather earlier
Today, on my way home from work, I was stopped on the DLR because apparently I matched the description of someone who has “persistently” dodged the train fare at Shadwell station in east London, including yesterday.
I’ll be complaining to @TfL formally, but I just wanted to put this on here to say this sort of thing happens and when it does, it is exhausting and unfair. 4/4
I went to cover a court case. The clerk thought I was the defendant. That defendant happened to be the minister Tom Tugendhat, appearing for a driving offence. I think this quote: “I don’t wear glasses,” is only half of what I said. I also stated the glaringly obvious… 🤷♀️😂
So not only did he profile me, but he chose to presume I was guilty. After he checked my ticket, he simply walked off and said “it’s valid this time.” 3/4
Today, Richard Okorogheye’s mother launched a foundation in his name, little over two months after his death. I spoke to her for a piece running on @SkyNews tonight
I wasn’t there yesterday and I’ve been through this station maybe once this year. Yet, a ticket inspector jumped on the train, and stopped it from leaving to check my ticket in front of lots of other people. He told me I’d been caught on CCTV dodging the fare more than once. 2/4
Some personal news: After three years at @TheSundayTimes, I will be swapping newspapers for TV, joining @SkyNews as a correspondent next month. It’s a move from one dream job to another and I’m chuffed
🚨🚨 Some personal news: In the New Year I’m moving to Leeds to become a North of England Correspondent for @SkyNews, focusing on Yorkshire and the North East. Can’t wait to get started!
A really special show of support from the community in Southport this evening, sending “bubbles up to heaven,” for Bebe, Elsie Dot and Alice, who lost their lives here last week
This week, I wrote a column about it's like to be a black in Britain for myself and other people I know. This why I believe the #BlackLivesMatter movement is just as important here as it is anywhere else

Yesterday, I covered the funeral of Jermaine Cools, a 14-year old who was the youngest victim in a record year for teen stabbings in London. His family wanted media there to show people the human cost of knife crime. It was devastating.
