Marie Curie, Polish-born French physicist, was born #OTD in 1867. She was the 1st woman to win a Nobel Prize, the 1st person and only woman to win twice and the only person to win a Nobel Prize in different scientific fields, the Nobel Prize in Physics 1903 and Chemistry in 1911.

Lev Davidovich Landau, born #OTD in 1908, was a Soviet theoretical physicist. He was one of the founders of the quantum theory of condensed matter whose pioneering research in this field was recognized with the 1962 Nobel Prize for Physics.
