For bioinformatics coding, use Codex with gpt-5.6-sol. Beats Claude Code with Opus 4.8 by a long shot. Fable 5 won't even look at anything remotely related to biology.

I still upload key files to the Claude or ChatGPT websites to get a fresh perspective. Claude Code or Codex can be influenced by what's in the local project folder. CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, and project memory files are helpful but could also prime AI into certain directions.
