So this is kind of interesting. Nintendo not allowing PlayVS to run competition because they claim to be working on collegiate esports themselves? Seems unlikely considering their complete lack of involvement in the amateur/pro level.

If true it could mean that the only legitimate competition for Smash is on the collegiate side? Maybe pros need to start thinking about varsity as a viable pathway. Potentially collegiate is only part of their plan? Lots of questions for me coming out of this one announcement.

"Head Esports Coach" does not exist. There is no such thing. This title is a made up thing used to pay people less than they deserve because the true title for someone in that position is esports DIRECTOR.

It's very unfortunate that in collegiate esports, in order to find out about scores of big games and important results, you need to be following individual coaches and players a lot of the time and hope they post to twitter. We need to get better at sharing information publicly.

Quick tip: *Before* you register for a league, check when the games are scheduled and make sure all of your players are available. If they aren't available, don't sign up. Don't expect teams to reschedule to accommodate your mistake of signing up for something you shouldn't have.

We've been selected to receive $50,000 in esports scholarship funding from the Ontario Provincial Government! $25,000 will be awarded to students this semester and additional $25,000 will go out to students in the next academic year.

Feeling extremely lucky and thankful to be sitting in the office working today. When I went out for a drive Friday night, I never would have imagined something like this could happen. The firefighters think that a fuel line burst. I was able to get out before the car was engulfed
