Today marks 9 years of me having left an abusive relationship. I'm celebrating myself today, and intend to do so every May 14th. I'm also celebrating every single one of you who's managed to leave, or is planning to leave. And remembering everyone who lost their lives doing so.

I'm celebrating myself today and tomorrow! Why? 8 years ago this evening I left an abusive relationship, with just a bag of clothes and toiletries, and my car. 8 years ago today I got offered the internship that got me to what I'm doing today. 8 years of freedom.

(money, abuse) So proud of myself right now. Paid off the last of a big debt in one chunk. This was something that I was left to pay after being mentally and financially abused. The feeling of doing this has made me cry happy tears.

Unpaid internships are illegal and everyone should remember this! If someone is doing an unpaid internship, they should be due at least minimum wage. Those in the UK who are unpaid interns, check this out:

This weekend I might not shut up about how proud I've come since this time 10 years ago. It's cause I'm bloody proud. I left a career and relationship that made me so unhappy and unwell, walked out of the flat I owned with that person, and turned my life around.
