Superintendent emailed me. Here is his signature line. Expecting a kid to learn only from a textbook is like asking them to look at a travel brochure and calling it a vacation.

Good Ts can't be replaced by tech. What tech does is allow Ts to spend more time focusing on their learners & building those relationships.

Walk into my son's room.. taking his summer school online final. He hides his phone. No kidding he is googling the test answers. As we move remote we can't assess the same ways. They WILL Google it!!!

You do not live in 1980 you live in 2018 and you can not get away with "I'm not good with technology."

A superintendent emailed me. Here is his email signature line "You wouldn’t go to a hospital that looked the same as 50 years ago.  So why do we allow this in schools? "

Dear privileged parents who want hard working teachers to provide you with things to do at home. NOTHING NOTHING assigned is better than you reading to your kid. Cooking with them. Spending time. Teachers work hard. Let them stick to inside their class. You got outside of class.

Science is not worksheets. Science is not worksheets. Science is not worksheets. Science is not worksheets. Science is not worksheets. Science is not worksheets. Science is not worksheets.

Teaching is a creative job. Micromanaging makes teachers want to quit.

My 8-year-old asked me "Mom, why do schools only track the bad things that you do and not the good things?"

I can point to more "old' teachers who are doing amazing things than I can to teachers who think they are too old to learn ____. Age is not a variable for learning. Attitude is.

I posted on FB about my books, someone replied that I shouldn't be able to wear politics at school. #BlackLivesMatter is not politics. Valuing the lives and rights of Black Americans is what is right.

The longer a student goes without receiving feedback the less they care about the feedback when they get it.

Do we ask kids to be more responsible than adults? How many times have I left something at home as a teacher... did I get a zero? Did I lose points? Did I have detention? How many times does a student get to be HUMAN?
