Making fun of middle management in colleges and universities. Because you can never have too many associate deans conspiring to be THE dean.

Dear New Faculty Hires - In 1982, two senior faculty in your department had an argument. No one remembers what it was about. But you have to pick a side.

We've merged the Stats Department, the Classics Department and the Medieval Literature program. It is now called the Center for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Studies.

Let’s not waste this crisis. It’s a time to be innovative in transferring your classes to an online mode. Let’s prove technology can serve the greater good! Also, you have 48 hours. And, remember (1) we are watching and (2) all the materials you create are owned by the college.

Please remember it is against college policy to turn your in-person course into a hybrid course. Also, please make sure all your lectures are recorded and accessible in real time and that they are asynchronously available online for students who need them and can’t attend!

I love Zoom meetings! Because they are online, we don’t have to allow time to get from one meeting to the next! We can just have meeting after meeting after meeting!

We are ending on-campus covid testing on September 1 because, honestly, we don’t want to know. We are also declaring the pandemic over for the fall semester.

It is that time of year when the college wants to thank all of our faculty and staff for their hard work this year. Not with money, support, or resources. Not even with a catered luncheon. But with words in an email to the college listserv! Thanks for all you do!

Don’t forget all classes must be taught in person, but all materials must be made available online, including lectures.

We understand. You are for social justice just so long as it doesn’t come out of your research budget.

To combat systemic racism, we have asked all department chairs to send emails to faculty listservs letting faculty know that systemic racism won’t be tolerated. But don’t worry, we aren’t changing any of our institutional structures or decision-making processes.

By 100% in person, we meant faculty, not students. Please make sure to record and post lectures for students unable to attend.

We’ll move to an all online format after the deadline passes for full tuition refunds.

Football is canceled, so we fired the coach. No, not really. We closed the theatre department instead.
