I think they mean more like that if you wanted someone else and me at the same time but only went for me when your first option rejected you or didn’t work out, then you only went for me bc I was the most available person to you around the time. Which is kinda demeaning
I used to work for progressive for a bit and that’s literally what they tell us to say to everyone asking why it went up. They don’t have an actual answer besides “they wanted it to go up” but they can’t be said for obvious reasons. So then we get yelled at for no reason
