Sen. Lisa Murkowski ahead of Trump’s speech: “There's a lot of speculation that he's going to take it back to 2020. I'm one who's always looking forward instead of in the rearview mirror with suspicion and conspiracy theories. So I don't know that that's going to be constructive”

Former Trump special counsel Ty Cobb tells me of tonight's Trump speech: "I think tonight's speech is intended to add to the predicate that he needs to declare an emergency at or about the time of the elections. ... Steve Bannon and Todd Blanche have suggested that there will be

For perspective on what the president is trying to achieve with tonight's speech, the limits of his authority and the potential consequences for future elections, we turn to Ty Cobb, an attorney who served as special counsel during the first Trump administration. @GeoffRBennett

OSSOFF: I expect tonight's speech to be equal parts pathetic and dangerous. I think we will hear from the world's most famous sore loser, a prime time presidential sour grapes address reheating, debunked conspiracy theories about an election in which he was soundly defeated.

It seems, from all reporting, that ICE today - shot someone who was not attempting to run them over but, rather, "flee the scene" - was not the person they were looking for - who had a 3yr old in the car - who they dragged out into the street - all while not wearing body cams

Donald Trump’s spiral continues. The failed president, pocketing billions as he drives up prices, is afraid to lose the midterms. So he will reheat debunked election conspiracy theories and tell bizarre new lies to deny his 2020 defeat and attack voting rights. This is a disaster

I am voting NO on Monday on the NDAA. We haven’t even had an up or down vote to authorize this war in the first place. Trump wants a 50 percent increase at DOD - they expect money without accountability or strategy. I usually vote yes on NDAA but this is an easy call for me.

"[C]ooling is a hot issue on which the populist right has the better side of the argument. That should unsettle American progressives, who assume the far right is consistently irrational while the left is the party of science. On AC, the opposite is closer to the truth."

Why is it ‘cancelled’ in the U.K. but ‘canceled’ in the U.S.? Because we gave them that L in 1776.
