As much as Urban Meyer deserved to lose his job, people are too content to celebrate firings and don’t stop to think about the human element of this and how it affects the families of the coaches. Urban’s family has to spend more time with him now, and that’s totally fucked.

Kyler Murray didn’t transfer when he had to sit behind Baker Mayfield, but we give Joe Burrow a pass for transferring when he couldn’t beat out Justin Fields at Ohio State. Give me guys like Murray and Fields who stay and compete over guys like Burrow who take the easy way out.

Jordan was the best player of his era, but he wouldn’t be a top 25 NBA player today. He couldn’t compete with the determination and focus of modern athletes. If prime MJ had internet access and a smartphone, he’d have skipped practice to rip bets on FanDuel and play online poker.

What are some weird NFL career arcs? I’ll start: Logan Thomas. Fourth round quarterback, cut within a season, spent three years in practice squad purgatory, converted to tight end, had 35 catches in three seasons, then broke out in Year 7 with 72-670-6 off 110 targets.
