I swear, I started medical school wanting to discover cures and advance new technologies. Now, near the end, I just want everybody to have basic healthcare.

If you make a medical student feel bad for not knowing something on rounds, they’re not wrong, you are. They've been doing this for weeks, you've been doing this for years to decades. And if they knew everything you know, you wouldn't need to be there. #MedTwitter

I fear that wellness in American medicine is a myth. In regards to residency, I am sure it is. Science tells us over and over that lack of sleep, disrupted circadian rhythms, excessive stress, 6 day work weeks, 12+ hour workdays, are unhealthy for the body and mind. 🧵

“When you get these jobs that you've been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you're free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else.” - Toni Morrison #Match2021 #MatchDay2021 #MatchWeek

My little cousin in his Halloween costume this morning. Had to shoot him back a photo to let him know we’re matching.

Dear academia, just so you know - on issues of equity, this generation of underrepresented students and trainees did not come to play games.

Discharge is one of our most important and most dangerous procedures. (as one wise @BrighamMedRes resident told me) On a busy day, it takes tremendous extra energy to distill a hospital course and think through next steps for our patients. Here's my motivation to dig deep:

Academic medicine, how are we going to achieve health equity for our patients when we can't achieve equity for our trainees and faculty? We have to get our own house in order.

I've had mentors who tried to make me them. Now, I have mentors who try to make me, me. The difference is night and day.

My Dad is the toughest and hardest working person I've ever met. He's also not the kind to say "I'm proud of you" aloud often. But he did hang this off the porch the last time I visited home. Let's not get started on where he got this sign...
