Re: student self-censorship, we have robust evidence that current college students are highly risk-averse in comparison to students 20 years ago.

Whether LLMs can (or cannot) write well, better or worse than students, is irrelevant. The purpose of writing an essay is not the essay. The essay is how you pursue the goal of learning how to write, learning being the purpose. If you want to learn how to write you must write.
