Thank you @CIHR_IRSC @SCC_CCS for this award which I don’t deserve so early in mid-career, but which I’m grateful for. Indebted to my family, team, collaborators, funders, & to 🇨🇦 for giving this immigrant a chance. So grateful to my nominators. Miss you, dad.. this one’s for you

Dad would’ve turned 78 today but will forever be 62, waving goodbye & blowing kisses as I pulled out of his driveway. My debating partner, intellectual spark plug, encourager gone too soon but with me forever. Love is bigger than space & time, bigger than regret, bigger than loss

He had been found floating facedown by his parents. Endless cycles of #CPR later, pulse ✅, resps ✅. The toddler’s cries the best 🎵 ever. Thankful I was here, thankful for my daughter who acted. #Drowning a leading cause of death <5y. #LifeJacket your love! #CPRSavesLives

We don’t need claps to stay committed. We don’t need street signs to keep going. We don’t need eblasts to keep sacrificing. We want safe #PPE so our colleagues stop dying. We want safe PPE so our families stop worrying. We want safe PPE so we can keep giving. #COVID19 #NotMartyrs

Grateful for exhaustion that forced me to vacation. Was beachside when daughter ran over to tell me that she’d overheard a lady say that a toddler had just #drowned in resort pool. The kids & I sprinted to find a cold blue pulseless👦🏼 w/ eyes fixed open, pupils dilated #CostaRica

9 yrs ago today, I submitted a research manuscript to @CircAHA, ran into a glitch on the portal, and was an hour late for my C-section (had a rough night on-call but didn’t want to postpone 📄submission, just in case!) Cant believe this little guy is 9 !🥳 #WomenInCardiology

We need to create within academic medicine less hierarchies & power asymmetries and zero tolerance for toxic behaviours, injustices, gender harassment, abuse, oppression. We must stand up, speak up, & do the right thing when wrong occurs. Regardless of political alliances.

I missed her race yesterday. I missed her medal ceremony. Missed them while working. And somehow, “This one’s for you, mum! Because this distance is all about mental strength and grit and persisting through pain!” My soul! 1500m freestyle #Gold #MothersDayWeekend #WIC
