Policing is by consent. Tonight the @metpoliceuk have failed & the scenes of women being manhandled at a vigil are appalling. When people understandably came despite advice not to, this wasn’t the right way to respond.

Today @CommonsPAC scrutinised the BBC on its strategy. As well as asking about licence fee, commercial income, and efficiency, I asked about 🇬🇧 as I cldnt spot any in its 268 page Annual Report - maybe this year’s will

At the 1922 the Prime Minister took responsibility again for what went wrong in Downing St. & has made changes to restore high standards people expect. I’m backing the PM as we need a govt focused on the levelling up he was elected to deliver & to tackle cost of living pressures.

Given the economic challenges, we need a Prime Minister who can bring stability and confidence to the markets with a plan for the country to help people through this. I backed @RishiSunak before as the person with the best experience to do that and I am supporting him again.

This afternoon I called for @DCMS to #LetFansIn to @officialKLtown @NorwichCityFC and other clubs when national restrictions end on 2 Dec. Loss of revenues threatens clubs survival, impact on fans is huge, it can be done safely. As I said to the minister, C’mon let fans in.

A few facts the Chancellor overlooked on the economy Labour inherits: ⬇️ Unemployment 4.4% (down from 7.9% in 2010) ⬇️ Inflation 2% ⬆️ Economy growing faster than France, Germany, Italy, & the USA over the last quarter ⬆️ Wages growing faster than earnings for a year

That was a powerful speech from @TomTugendhat on leadership and character needed to rebuild trust squarely focused on prosperity and happiness of 🇬🇧 people. Tom didn’t just look like a leader in waiting. He looked like a Prime Minister in waiting.

I am very pleased to have been appointed a Shadow Treasury Minister. Looking forward to making the case for an approach to tax that encourages investment and enterprise and holding the government to account for a Budget which imposes higher costs and will lead to lower growth.
