The events of 2020 have accelerated bitcoin's value proposition. Hash rate is at an all time high. @Square is out front, building & funding dev work.
So it's a good time for others in Big Tech to reconsider bitcoin & spin up their own exploratory work.
The thought experiment of making Miami the first "bitcoin city" is fascinating to think about.
If I were @FrancisSuarez, I would think about the near-term opportunity through the lens of storytelling: How can Miami help inspire the world about bitcoin?
How? Spitballing:
Radical idea: @moxie charge me for @signalapp. Happy to pay!
Appreciate the need to make the project sustainable, but there are many better ways than an unnecessary privacy coin.
So interesting to see more and more athletes jump into bitcoin.
Getting paid in bitcoin could be the start of a trend across pro sports (and beyond?).
I’d love to see a leaderboard tracking which athletes / teams / leagues are out front.
@RussellOkung — does this exist?
.@moxie please copy & paste the bitcoin tipping workflow @twitter just implemented into @signalapp (rather than MobileCoin).
Much more open, decentralized and consistent with Signal’s ethos.
Magical moments in technology for me:
- loading first web page in Netscape
- my first web search on Google
- using my first iPhone
- sending bitcoin for the first time
Today:
- interacting with GPT-3 on @LearnFromAny1
This morning, my 7-year-old is off to the dentist for a filling. My eldest is staying home with a nasty cough. Meanwhile, my daughters are dressed as bumble bees and unicorn fairies. And it’s day #1 at @spiralbtc.
It might not seem like it, but all these things are the dream.
We hired another one… only this time… he’s Canadian. And, yes, in his own words, all of the stereotypes apply. He’s a poutine-pounding, Hockey-hooter and hollerer, one man infinite politeness machine. Please welcome @matbalez to Spiral. (We still need a new hire graphic.)
