It’s easy to underestimate the economic catastrophe of the last 16 years because it’s been gradual. But imagine we’d actually grown at 2% a year since 2008 and then lost it all at once this year: it would be a collapse of >30% Hard to overstate how radical we need to be now

This morning I had my first visceral “🤯” moment with AI for ~2 years 🧵on o1 and cryptic crosswords: My test for new models is a set of cryptic crossword clues that aren’t online (my granny wrote them). Every model so far has been completely useless at them… but o1 gets them

Yes 🎯It will be almost impossible to protect the NHS and give better care unless we end our weird “data protection” fetishism. Literally killing and maiming people to satisfy a legalistic impulse. Tragic.

I hate doing personal posts but: When my mum was dying last year, NHS data sharing failures and prioritising GDPR over pain relief repeatedly left her in agony. In desperation I began to build a Google Doc of her records linked to a QR code for doctors to scan. System's broken.
